Admissions Overview

Waterberg Academy has only one essential requirement before acceptance into the school: that your child will endeavour to make the most of every opportunity provided, and will attempt to contribute meaningfully in some way to those around him or her.

  1. Contact is made via the school secretary by calling (+27) 014 755 4460/1
  2. The application form must be completed and returned to us with:
    • A registration fee of R100.00.
    • A certified copy of your child’s Birth Certificate or Passport or ID.
    • Two recent ID photos (colour or B&W)
    • The most recent school report (if applicable) from the previous school
The registration fee is non-refundable and covers the application as well as an assessment, which is required of all children from Grade 1 to Grade 9, before they can be accepted into Waterberg Academy.
  3. On receipt of the application, your child’s name will be placed on our waiting list, and a letter of acknowledgement will be sent to you. Registration fees can be banked directly into our account (see left for details). Application forms and a copy of the deposit slip can be faxed to the school at (+027) 014 755 4460.
  4. Should a space be available, an appointment will be made for your child to be assessed (Grades 1 – 9). This is a one-on-one assessment done with a teacher. This assessment allows us to anticipate the needs of your child prior to arriving at the school, and therefore enables us to better meet your child's needs better.
  5. The assessment is done at Waterberg Academy and takes approximately 30 min to 1 hour, depending on the age of your child.
  6. After the assessment is completed, you and your child will meet with the Headmaster, where the results of the assessment will be discussed.
  7. Spaces are offered to prospective pupils based on the principle that siblings of existing learners are given priority.
  8. Should the interview be successful, and you wish to take up the position in the school, you will be required to fill in a debit order form and to pay the family joining fee.
  9. Only after your deposit has been paid in full can we confirm your child’s place at the school. Deposits are paid in full by the date stated in the letter given to you at your interview. After this date, the place will be offered to someone else, after a phone-call has been made to you to ascertain whether you are still interested in the position.
  10. Please note that should your child be an Immigrant pupil, it is the responsibility of the parent to apply for a Study Permit.
